A bit over a month ago, I was restructured from 60+ hours a week to 0 hours a week, and after a little break to start resyncing my body clock to Australian Eastern Standard time (much deserved, I think, after years of often 2/3am to 5pm days), I’m ready and keen to get into my next opportunity.

I’m looking for remote roles – I’d love for that to be within the data protection/storage industry, but I’m also keen to explore roles relating to archive, data classification or IT governance. After almost 30 years in the industry, I’ve literally written the book, multiple times, on backup/data protection/data recovery. Much of the focus of my career has been relating to the intersection of the IT technologies required for information protection and the business needs and processes that must be met.

Over that time I’ve excelled in a plethora of roles: implementation, architecture, support, training, team leadership, presales engineering, and product management.

I have system administration experience with #WindowsServer, #Linux, and #OpenBSD professionally. I strongly prefer the #BSD family of OSes and am willing to work with #NetBSD and #FreeBSD professionally and have played with them off the job. I have done this for about three years.

I have also designed websites, and am quite familiar with #HTML and #CSS. I also got #JQuery to play nicely as well.

I am a jack of all trades, with my strongest skills I feel be in system administration and graphic design.

LLMs and generative AI are something I prefer to avoid where possible. I have experience with working under tight deadlines with a micromanaging boss before recent hype around LLMs, though I'd rather avoid such things if possible.

My partner got a stamp in their passport in USCIS without any trouble

And we need more currency so we can get them a drivers license (36usd) and the license plates for the Nissan leaf (200usd and requires a special ev license plate in Colorado) so we can avoid a 500usd fine that we are under threat of facing in boulder
We have to drive over 100 mi to get to the DMV because we are in the mountains which means we have to drive quite a distance which is around 30 in ev charging
Charge point also stole 50usd for a week on a faulty charging station

But by getting documents and such we can get things together
After they sort out their documents I will be able to get mine together and get a job or fedihired
