    :tranarchy_punk_pansexual: MUTUAL AID - RENT - $1370/2500 :tranarchy_punk_transgender:

hello! my name is rachael. i am a trans woman trapped in a red state. i live with my disabled partner and two dogs. i was fired from my previous job for being trans. since then, i have diligently searched for new employment, but no one local wants to hire a trans person, and remote jobs are increasingly rare.

as i continue my job search, i need to maintain a roof over our heads. we need to continue to survive as i continue my efforts. as such, i am asking for help making rent as well as paying our utilities and other bills. this will allow us to stay safe as i try to navigate the professional world's rampant transphobia.

additionally, i am eager to hear of any job opportunities you may be able to refer me to. i have a decade of experience in software development, with my previous role of six years being a senior fullstack position that included project planning, management, and maintenance, as well as mentorship and client communication. i am open to any position, even entry-level, that is either remote or in seattle or indianapolis. i hope to relocate to seattle as soon as possible, but i will do what i need to survive.

our goal is $2500. i know, thats a lot. im trying my best to find employment. anything you can give would be wildly appreciated and help keep us safe.

Well, my tenure at my current job ends at 9 AM tomorrow; I'm being laid off along with most of my company after an acquisition.

I'm a Staff Software Engineer. I've been working with CDK/TypeScript, FastAPI/Python, Docker, etc. but have a fair bit of experience in Kotlin and C# and I pick things up pretty fast. I have been running Linux at home on my daily driver since ~1998 as well as in my home lab since ~2002 or so. I am very passionate about system design, continuous integration/delivery pipelines, developer tooling, and smoothing the onboarding process for projects.

I live in the rural United States of America and I have no interest in relocating for an employer (or for any other reason, really). Let me know if you hear about anything or if your company is hiring; I would greatly appreciate it! 🙇

                                      Hello!

I'm a senior software engineer with ~19 years of professional experience, specialising in low-level systems programming, embedded, infrastructure, and performance-critical software.

I've worked across kernel-level, embedded, and application layers. I've done everything from small time application work to environments where problems are complex, failure is expensive, and correctness matters.

                                      Selected experience:

                                      • Built and shipped a Rust-based OpenSSL engine for an HSM as a contractor for Microsoft
                                      • Worked on a RISC-V MCU emulator
                                      • Bootstrapped a Rust toolchain from mrustc in a production environment
                                      • Developed tooling for container image ecosystems, including an image linter
                                      • Background in hosting/infrastructure environments
                                      • Mentored others in Rust
                                      • Former director of a non-profit (team leadership, operations, decision-making)

                                      My core skills:

                                      • Languages: C, C++, Rust, Python, (plus working JavaScript)
                                      • Systems: low-level development, kernel-adjacent work, embedded systems, Linux and POSIX systems
                                      • Tooling: ASan, GCC analyser, Coverity, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
                                      • Practises: TDD, custom test harnesses, strong debugging discipline
                                      • Areas: concurrency/async systems, network servers, inter-language interop, cryptography, performance optimisation, debugging

What I bring to the table:

                                      • Experience: I have worked in all company sizes, from tiny startups to big companies
                                      • Deep experience with debugging: I can solve complex, non-obvious failures
                                      • Strong systems background: memory, concurrency, and performance are core strengths
                                      • Breadth: I can move between low-level and higher-level work as needed
                                      • Pragmatism: I focus on shipping reliable, maintainable systems

                                      What I'm looking for:

                                      • Fully remote if possible
                                      • Async-friendly teams (PDT-based)
                                      • Open to full-time or contract
                                      • Compensation: $135k+ depending on scope
                                      • Medium to long-term work preferred, but I'll take what I can get
                                      • Preferably but beggars can't be choosers

If you or your company are building infrastructure, systems software, or anything performance-sensitive, I'm likely to be a strong fit 🙂.

as i continue my job search, i need to maintain a roof over our heads. we need to continue to survive as i continue my efforts. as such, i am asking for help making rent as well as paying our utilities and other bills. this will allow us to stay safe as i try to navigate the professional world's rampant transphobia.

additionally, i am eager to hear of any job opportunities you may be able to refer me to. i have a decade of experience in software development, with my previous role of six years being a senior fullstack position that included project planning, management, and maintenance, as well as mentorship and client communication. i am open to any position, even entry-level, that is either remote or in seattle or indianapolis. i hope to relocate to seattle as soon as possible, but i will do what i need to survive.

our goal is $3000. i know, thats a lot. im trying my best to find employment. anything you can give would be wildly appreciated and help keep us safe.

I'm currently looking for work. I've been a software developer for 14yrs mainly working in small start-ups that make a webapp product (Ruby, Typescript, React) where I wear a lot of hats (support, devops, development, mentoring, and telling you that all the problems you're having is because your microservice architecture is over-engineered and insecure).
I'd like to work on something actually useful to people and I'd be less concerned about what I'm paid if I did.
Something that I'm less likely to burnout on would be great.

The AI slop phenomenon has really put me off so I've been thinking about changing careers, although I'm not sure what I'd do yet
