Ahoy peeps… let’s try this again:
I’m mainly a programmer and looking for work in Linz (or remote anywhere else, duh)
so far the traditional job market has rejected me - not just as programmer, but also as train driver, supermarket shelf stacker (yes really), data management and more. god only knows why (points at transgender flag) I simply have no idea (keeps pointing)
I’m part of a “startup” where I get some money from, but starting january I can easily work full-time somewhere else at the same time.

Are you looking for a job in #freesoftware? My employer @univention has several job postings online. Check them out!
If anyone is looking for tutorials in programming or help with college assignments etc I am available for private individual or group tuition.
where does one find fully remote computer-touching wage-work (sysadmin-ish) these days, with not too many hours (<20/week ideally) and decent pay? i might consider ending my unemployment-spree
edit: linux, no qualifications on paper#getFediHired
does anybody have any advice on how to get a desk job asap? I'm not particularly picky about what I'd be doing as long as it's not oil or military. I'm just... I have to get out of my current job situation now. It's killing me, and has been for about a decade.
The only paper behind my name rn is an associate's in math, and maybe in the future a comptia a+? except the entire tech field is imploding so I might not bother taking it.
not sure if this tag is fully appropriate but #getfedihired
MUTUAL AID - RENT - $56/2500
hello! my name is rachael. i am a trans woman trapped in a red state. i live with my disabled partner and two dogs. i was fired from my previous job for being trans. since then, i have diligently searched for new employment, but no one local wants to hire a trans person, and remote jobs are increasingly rare.
as i continue my job search, i need to maintain a roof over our heads. we need to continue to survive as i continue my efforts. as such, i am asking for help making rent as well as paying our utilities and other bills. this will allow us to stay safe as i try to navigate the professional world's rampant transphobia.
additionally, i am eager to hear of any job opportunities you may be able to refer me to. i have a decade of experience in software development, with my previous role of six years being a senior fullstack position that included project planning, management, and maintenance, as well as mentorship and client communication. i am open to any position, even entry-level, that is either remote or in seattle or indianapolis. i hope to relocate to seattle as soon as possible, but i will do what i need to survive.
our goal is $2500. i know, thats a lot. im trying my best to find employment. anything you can give would be wildly appreciated and help keep us safe.

Just a super casual reminder that I am looking for a new job. I've been doing IT for over 12 years, and the last eight have been in offensive security. Mostly pen testing (network, wireless, physical, and web app) but I can do more! Secure code review, mobile application testing, k8s, legacy kit like AS/400, threat modeling. I'm even open to leadership or blue team roles. I could probably do other cool stuff like reversing if I had some training or mentorship/guidance.
I also have a graduate degree in history and undergraduate degrees in both philosophy and history. Which means that I like to write, and I like to think.
If you have a company that isn't embracing AI, and is also ethical (which may be an impossible ask) please reach out!
I would prefer to not keep making these posts, but my employer just keeps going harder and harder for AI, and I don't want to have that blood on my hands, or to be holding the bag when the inevitable AI bubble bursts.
If you're an *experienced* freelance investigative journalist who wants to write about consumer privacy and/or current cybersecurity events, and want to pitch me some article ideas: I want to hire you for a project I'm starting.
Rates approx. $0.50 – $1.50 per word DOE (or we can discuss flat rate or hourly options). I don't know how to hire journalists so ask me whatever you want to know 😇
I've seen a few people put content warnings on their "looking for work" posts.
I recommend you DON'T do this. Not everyone who comes across your post will bother to expand it. Worse, content warnings prevent your post from appearing in Trending lists, limiting your reach.
I'm not sure what purpose a CW would even serve here—if someone finds the fact that you're looking for work offensive or traumatizing, that's a them problem, not a you problem.
#FediHired #GetFediHired #FediTips
I’m sitting here, managing 7 different workstreams, 5 different environments,150 apps, all with no budget for tooling or training and with a team of 5 engineers and a sixth who I can’t use, all of whom are burnt out from constantly context switching and I’m just sitting here thinking, “Damn, only having to manage two or three swim lanes would make for such an amazing break right now.”
So yeah, if you’re looking for a #DevOps or #SRE manager with 25 years experience to come join your team, let me know! I love the idea of having a semi-realistic number of plates spinning and maybe a team that is just normally understaffed instead of so completely understaffed that it sits in the realm of the absurd.
Looking for a remote job where being treated as an adult human is not a thing that needs to be fought for but is the baseline standard for the company.
At my age, and even with 30+ years of IT/Linux/web experience, I've given up on getting a full-time job again in the field. Does anyone know of any companies (or not companies) looking for a part-time Linux person, or someone that can build websites? The St. Louis Metro area would be great and remote would be awesome. Thanks!
I have no direct connection to this, I just found it while out bouncing around the web: https://www.codeweavers.com/jobs
They have an opening for a Wine developer. I've seen some dev type folk looking for jobs out here, so maybe this might be up your alley.

We (SCI Semiconductor) are about to hire some folks in the next couple of months (probably starting in January, since we're about to hit Christmas):
We're aiming to hire 1-3 FAEs, who can build out the open-source bits of the #CHERIoT software stack (including drivers / various communication stacks), build demos, and work with customers on use-case bringup.
We also want to hire someone else on the toolchain side. Primarily #LLDB + #OpenOCD, but also working with our #LLVM (and #RustC) folks.
Let me know if you're interested!
EDIT: We are a full-remote company. It's easiest for us to hire people in the UK (and one of our investors would really like us to hire more people in Sheffield), but elsewhere is possible (though might, for tax purposes, require you to be officially a contractor for a while).
We're also going to be hiring people for our hardware verification and RTL teams soon (more on the verification side than design at the moment, I think). I'm not responsible for them, but I can find out more details if anyone is interested. Our first CHERIoT chip is nearly finished, we're starting to work on the second.
EDIT 2: Thanks to all of the people who have expressed interest (in public and private posts). I'll try to get back to you all next week!
EDIT 3: I hope I've replied to everyone now! If I missed you (there were more replies than I expected!) please let me know. I think we'll aim to do another hiring round over the summer next year, so if the current timeline doesn't work out for you, please still let me know and I'll keep you in mind next time!
Hey lovelies
We'd like to ask you all for your thoughts, suggestions, and ideas to help us resolve an ongoing issue.
At a high-level, we are a neurodivergent (AuDHD) spoonie with a mixture of health issues that are preventing us from being able to get or do a "typical" job and earn an income.
By "typical" job, we mean one where the company and role just aren't well-suited to many folks who are disabled (including being neurodivergent), have support needs, and/or have other health issues.
Most "typical" jobs broadly:
... and so on, so you can probably understand how difficult it is for us to find any suitable paid employment that we can do 😅
This is made harder by the fact that:
We have zero idea where to even start, so we are genuinely asking for your input and recommendations here.
We have decent reading comprehension, writing ability, and neurospicy pattern recognition, but we also have an inconsistent level of executive function and energy (physical and mental), so we can't do a job where we have to clock in and out at set times, even on a part-time basis.
Even whilst writing this post, we're already out of spoons and on to knives today, meaning that we're pushing through to ask for help.
Any suggestions will be appreciated, and we'll add additional details to the post based on any questions or thoughts from others 🥺🫶
Thank you in advance for your thoughts, as well as your empathy, understanding, and kindness

Hola Mastodon,
#getfedihired

Dear #GetFediHired,
Despite “my” contract ending with the end of the year, but the company being a side in that contract decided to kick out some people, including me, earlier. So their Christmas present for me is the lack of a job.
So I'm looking for opportunities for a jack of all trades #Linux sysadmin, with broad, 10y+ experience in system and applications administration. Preferred location would be #Strasbourg.
