Garage next door to my work booked up until December, fixed it in yard outside today - 6 hours (even with to remove axle bolts) - had to fight cursed spline bolts in awkward position (should have raised axle stands about 30-50mm higher!) to remove old set and retorque new ones to 70 Nm + 90° (not fun!).

All other bolts such as caliper bolt, control arm to ball joint and even big axle bolt and axle itself didn't give me any drama, just these 3 (mechanic lent me the one long ratchet I didn't have). Got 200Nm + 180° on axle bolt with beast of a breaker bar

Took every bit of strength in my body, went on test drive just now and there is 0 noise (thought both corners were goosed but front left seems OK for now)

This might be the first instance of a British company using to share their own historical material, whilst only providing a discreet link to their main website (so they are not obviously trying to use it for their marketing)

Ironically their online shopping experience is a bit dated compared to other competitors at least for alloys, its better for smaller accessories and their spare wheel/emergency toolkit for modern cars (many of which lack a spare wheel!) seems decent enough

NB: some catalogues contain imagery considered sexist nowadays - British society became less prudish over the years, but not in the most inclusive way (not as if objectifying women was necessary to sell alloy wheels, but this did alas become part of especially in 90s and 00s)

The company still exists today, but in a more downsized form (insurers are more ruthless about loading premiums for modified cars or refusing cover altogether, making this a less popular hobby

Does anyone have info about current policy, in particular any revised timescales for any total ban on *existing* / vehicles (not just the ban on new sales?)

I've noticed any timescales for these bans have quietly disappeared from the main party website, but haven't heard of anything official being mentioned.

Some clarity and openness (and a willingness to compromise) could help the Greens a lot - at the moment keeping quiet (with only the outdated 2024 election manifesto widely mentioned on websites) just feeds the conspiracy theories going around "pro-motoring" communities who claim the Greens are trying to force ordinary people out of driving (even though this isn't really the case)

Does anyone here know about 1930s cars?

In 1940, some British paratroopers "borrowed" a car. I'm trying to work out if they needed to bypass something like a key, or if they were able to just get in and drive off.

It was a large car, owned by Crown Prince Olav of Norway, so was probably a high-end model. It was probably British, but possibly American.

                              Any ideas?

                              Boosts appreciated.
