              in , of course includes some heritage vehicles, including a couple of beautiful coaches: a 1969 Bella Vega SB5 and another Duple-bodied Bedford from 1952, this time an SB3, both part of a small fleet giving free trips around the town.

              There was also a very, um, striking 130...

              A mostly yellow 1960s Bedford coach, queuing in Downham Market with 18th century shop buildings just visible behind. The coach has a lot of chrome, surrounding the windows and also the black side stripe and black lower quarter, as well as a large chrome front grille holding four lamps.

              A beautiful cream-over-green Bedford coach, queuing outside 18th century shops in Downham Market High Street. New in 1952, it has none of the chrome of later years, but a much curvier cuddly shape. The windscreen - made from four separate pieces of glass - curves around the front for better visibility.

                  For the record, I do love independent repair shops. I also love fixing things myself. The local laws should allow this. Alas, the car manufacturers are not happy with it so they launched a campaign.

                                                    What is actually happening is middle aged and seniors (many of whom are already driving automatic cars) are buying the EVs, and their vehicles are being sold and subsequently driven by younger folk (or they live in the family house and are sharing an automatic vehicle with their parents).

                                                    I have noticed in busier urban parts of , and about half the I see on the street and in the yard outside my work are now automatics

                                                    At present it remains small with dual clutch gearboxes which are becoming popular with the younger generation rather than EVs (everyone I know who drives an EV is north of 50)

                                                      This report (which crops up every few months) is often used to spin adoption, but the reality is its the schools that are buying EVs for their fleets - most of the young who choose are picking / vehicles when they pass their test , the main reason folk are increasingly choosing automatic 'boxes in is the stress of learning to drive and sheer weight of traffic (I've driven in and it has an abundance of , where driving manual can be a chore).

                                                      There *isn't* at present much of "green dividend" as is often claimed (although it must reduce emissions from driving school cars, and used Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf are now reaching "first car" price points)
