Saturday late afternoon we decided to go to some cars n coffee thing happening in Mulgrave, so we took Harry for a cruise there. It was already packed with muscle cars. Being little, well, you can park anywhere really.

Britain's real life #WackyRaces 😁 - was fairly entertaining (and proves there aren't that many gains from #tuning unless you go #Stage2 or #Stage3 but not the most scientifically rigorous test (the Desi uncle is in a #GolfR Variant and quite well built chap, thats 150+ kg compared to all the other younger folk, although he still won all the races 😁 ) #cars

If I lived on that street, I would set up a tyre garage, alloy wheel refurb place and bodyshop nearby 😁
Presumably this is deliberate, to discourage SUVs and other larger vehicles from that lane whilst letting through smaller ones - I think it needs more signs on approach (like a similar #TrafficCalming scheme in Britain would use), but surely its obvious to those in larger #cars that their vehicle may not easily fit through that gap, and they should take the lane to the left?
Today in “some decision makers and designers must be jailed”, can you guess what is a button and what is an indicator here?
I already find cars to be an absurd requirements for our society, but designing “die and retry” interfaces in one ton of metal and plastic thrown at high speeds it plain criminal.

We wandered back to the little fellers and headed off. Saw this nice blue Honda on the way, and also this grey imported Toyota.

Having decided that this is finally the right time to trade in my plug-in hybrid Skoda for a fully-fledged EV (especially given what looks likely to happen to the price of petrol in the coming months), I spent much of my weekend looking at car websites, visiting car showrooms, and generally thinking about cars.
I am reminded why I generally don't change my car very often. It's a frustrating experience.
A few thoughts...

Most European #cars (even performance ones), other than a handful of #supercars are electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) due to an informal consensus amongst German manufacturers dating back to 1980s.
Anyone driving faster than that has often deliberately modified their vehicle to bypass this limiter which is a a somewhat sociopathic thing to do when the maximum speed limit on all public roads in the #UK is 70 mph (112 km/h)
Something changed during #Covid #lockdown - for a while, drivers were nicer and more considerate than usual aided by the changes to the Highway Code, and it felt safe walking on country roads with no pavements. Then some really angry males decided to take back the roads, aided by austerity that had eroded public services, and we got speeding, car meets in supermarket car parks, and a return to aggressive driving.
