              This is my biggest gripe re: because there's no good reason for it to be a even to an (unmanned) gas station.

              • You know what a fuel vending machine needs? My ability to shove cash or card into it! Not a shitty app, not my license place, ID or bank details…

                  I just heard that the “Slammedenuff” annual car show in Sevierville created such a huge mess of misbehavior in public streets this weekend that the city and organizers cancelled the Sunday portion and sent everyone home.

                  Social media reports claim tens of thousands of attendees came from all around the country, and overwhelmed the small towns. Drivers did sideshows, raced on public streets, started fights, and damaged infrastructure. Multiple PDs were called to control the mayhem, and SWAT teams were deployed.

                  What an utter embarrassment to the community. I fear that the neverending thirst for viral social media content has turned these car gatherings into fodder for reckless behavior as people want to be seen, and content makers goad people to do dangerous stunts for their video feeds.

                  I think car week is dangerously close to this point as well, with the Exotics on Cannery Row getting kicked out to Seaside in 2021, and that event also becoming rowdy.

                                              Was watching a (not completely unjustified) rant of a Scottish mechanic about a decline in availability of reliable used due to poor design choices and lock in for proprietary ECUs (cannot be updated without manufacturer approved software)

                                              Comments on this highlight there's /some/ truth in claims by milquetoast centrists that supporters "aren't all racist" - for a lot of them, racism *is* secondary - they support Reform more as the party plans to ignore and disrupt / regulations, particularly those which relate to motor cars!

                                              which causes more of a problem as they haven't yet managed to throw Zia Yusuf under the bus, and could still leverage him to appeal to young (and not so young) petrolheads (he has some links with Formula 1)

                                                  The first is an 100. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something different about this one. Is it the aerial? Or the wing mirrors? *Something* is non-standard, I'm sure.

                                                  The second is easier, it's a 1934 looking very stately. Surprisingly, it's listed as having an 1141cc engine, so progress would also be stately, I suspect.

                                                  Lowered so much the bodywork is practically scraping the ground, a white Audi 100 saloon sits among more traditonal classic cars in Reepham Market Place with, in the background, a street of 18th century disappearing into the distance. The Audi has deep-dished wheels with chrome hubcaps, but almost the entire top half of the wheel is hidden behind the wheel arch. Several people are admiring other cars in the background.
