Tesla sales in Europe are in free fall and the pain is just starting

Tesla sales in Europe are continuing to decline rapidly, and it appears the pain is just beginning.

The numbers for July are coming in from Europe and Tesla registrations are down 41.6% despite EV sales surging across the old continent.

In fact, the decline appears to be accelerating in most European markets.

OK I have a weird question about #cars.

I took my 2010 #Honda element in for an oil change today and also got some required transmission maintenance done (the car was throwing codes).

When I left the service center, the temperature gauge on my dashboard, the one that tells me the outside temperature, registered as 74° F.

As I drove back home which is about 4 miles, it only went up to 75° F.

Later on when I ran an errand to feed my client's dogs, it was still only reading 75°F.

The temperature today was 99° in the shade!

Obviously something happened during the service that did something to the sensor to make it not read correctly, and of course now they're gone for the weekend.

I don't even know where that sensor sits underneath the hood? I don't know if it may have gotten knocked loose or... something else.

It's not affecting the performance of the car, but I like knowing what the outside temperature is when I'm driving. It's a thing.

I guess I will call them again on Monday (I already left a voicemail). I don't need to spend more money right now as that service was pricey enough, but if they messed this up, they should repair it.

A close-up of my speedometer which has both the current mileage on this tank of gas and the current outside temperature. The outside temperature reads incorrectly. Yeah, I know I need to dust. my car really only gets a bath about once a year.

Also added red aluminium #DSG paddle shifters (replacing the stubby ones that #VW supply as stock), and selector knob with red #GTI pattern stripes. Got a thinner set of needle nose #pliers with serrated edges to yoink out plastic pins in steering wheel that hold the shifters - all the others I had were too wide by about 2mm.

Had to fork out £13 Earth Pounds to Admiral (about £5 was admin fee) to declare these for #insurance purposes - insurers do check for #mods like these, their staff monitor social media as do more observant Police officers from the Roads Policing Unit should they pull you over!

(I sometimes have to use car parks that is popular with "boy racer" types and the old bill keep an eye on these)

Subtle #interior #mods for the #GolfGTI - red anodised aluminium surrounds for infotainment and airco controls, and footwell lamps replaced with red LED (interestingly I had always thought those were incandescents, turns out the original VW units *are* white LED but quite dim for some reason!)

When you open the doors they are on 100% brightness but you can set them on the menu screen to whatever brightness you want (I have 30% so they aren't a distraction when driving)

So, last night, inspired by some of the absolutely epic onboard footage of current WRC cars, I took it upon myself to take a Toyota Yaris GR on one of my favourite rally stages in Estonia.

Much to my surprise, I actually really enjoyed it. It's a very different drive to the classic rally cars (particularly Group B) that I'm used to, where you have to fight the fight for every input you want it to do. the GR Yaris is point and shoot, giving you time to focus on your accuracy and corners- not to mention the hybrid boost system kicking in if you get your braking on a corner right.

I feel a comparison video between Group B and Modern WRC cars coming in the future...
