#EMFCamp memories and moments - someone attached three seashells inside one of the toilet cubicles at the north end of the site. 😂
Campervan returned, deposit back! Now waiting for bag drop at Heathrow T2… #emfcamp - the remainder of the 1600-odd miles is in progress…
Shout out to the plant tent and the people staffed it. A lovely idea.
A number of spider plant babies were claimed. Live well, future spider plants.
New caretakers: they thrive on neglect, they can be put outside in summer and may even survive urban winter.
If anyone missed the #emfcamp #NullSector dialog, you can click on the spider at the bottom of this link to access it all: https://polyb.io/
We joke about the spiders but it's only during teardown that you discover the sheer number of them lurking on every bit of kit moved #emfcamp
Getting world-o-techno (the bot that you push around to create new music from your location) to run on my laptop so I can close my eyes and pretend I'm still at #emfcamp
People at #EMFCamp kept asking why I had so many Thermal Cameras.
Well, because companies keep sending me review units!
This box was waiting for me when i got home - so expect a review soon.
You can read all existing reviews at https://shkspr.mobi/blog/tag/thermal+review/

With #EMFCamp done (except for the teams still on site returning to its pre-event state) it is time for us to return to our normal schedule of fewer posts and of those mostly being about #HitchinHackspace.
It is our weekly open evening tonight. Why not come along and find out what we do?
And we’re back.
Me Sunday morning eye rolling at the (adult) teenagers camping next to us who were planning to stay in NullSector until the end; then me on Sunday night/Monday morning in NullSector until 00:30 equally.
Although my back is likely stiffer than theirs now.
Quite an experience even without friends there (too much for a toot; will have to blog instead). Thank yous of course to every volunteer. #EMFCamp
- met young (c. 7-8yr old) fans of my Pigs in Space badge app (this made me 😊)
- saw folks running my Buckaroo Banzai badge app, and the animated spiders background, which made me happy
- shared over 200 duck stickers
- left zines about the Fediverse, and Celebrity Ducks, in the Lounge
- got choked up in both the opening and closing ceremonies with gratitude for *everything and everyone*
- enjoyed the spectacle of a burning Musk.
So many phone numbers still to call...! #EMFCamp
This weekend:
- three full nights as @forgeandcraft in the Night Market
- helped with drop in workshops at our village
- the amazing @heidigoseek gave a talk on Stage C 😍 and ran a meetup for genealogists, we were both repping Free UK Genealogy where we volunteer...
Headed away from Eastnor and #EMFCamp 2026 - some family time for a couple of days before getting back to normal life later in the week.
Lovely time. I did not post much or read much online because of the IRLs. I saw some folks, and I missed many others I know were physically in the field, enjoying their own things!
I always love collecting photos of the noticeboard and phone boards across the weekend.
Oh dear. It’s move out day for #EMFCamp and I’ve just been handed an idea for 2028
I think I’m going to need 24 traffic cones, some tilt switches (or similar) a sheet of plywood some speakers, a raspberry pi and a lot of LEDs
I’ve got 2 years
Will it happen? Who knows!
So glad I brought my telescope to #EMFCamp; massive shout out to @emily_s for the idea.
We set up in the busiest area of the site, with a great view of the moon, and gave a stream of people their first close-up view of it. So many expressions of joy and surprise! Think it might be my favourite EMF moment so far, and that’s really saying something.
Also, big shout out to the moon, for being in a *perfect* phase for some great crater shadows along the terminator.
That's this year's #EMFcamp spiders released into the house.
Had a thoroughly enjoyable festival, met great people and saw some wicked stuff going on over the weekend.
Thank you everyone for playing with our diggers and I do hope everyone had fun. It was very enjoyable to build and watch. Learnt a few things about grades of sand too!
Best efforts will be made to heatproof the infinite potato and I'll see you all again in a couple of years!

The result - I saw 2 @emfducks shirts, but only one @emfSpiders! The ducks have it!
Never before have I been somewhere where so many people clearly felt comfortable being their true selves. If only everywhere else was so accepting. Nicely done #emfcamp - keep up the good work!
#EMFCamp has been amazing! So many great conversations, installations, hexpansions, new friendships, old friendships, films on 35mm projection, lasers, ducks and spiders.
As many of us begin the journey home from #EMFCamp, full of hope and learning and love, timelines across the fediverse begin to return to normal.
I shall leave you with one final thought for now.
Three words I saw this weekend and will never, ever unsee.
“Karl Marx Labubu”
Safe travels everyone. I love you, and I mean that.
#EMFCamp day 3
* more awesome talks!
* @robinince was amazing 😍
* forcing myself to have a 2hr afternoon nap
* watching the closing cremony from my van while panicking about my nullsector set
* playing on CDJs, in public, 25 years after I last gigged. I won’t be leaving it that long again!
* the guy in the bucket hat ❤️ ❤️
* being too awash with adrenaline to eat or sleep!
* wandering the site late at night with a friend, who is now a much closer friend as a result of a very lovely conversation
Waking up with the contents of my pockets giving me a rough idea of what happened last night. #emfcamp #nullsector
I just collected something from the Dj booth in #EMFCamp nullsector…
Q: how much smoke fluid do we need?
A: Yes!
HOLY SHIT I can't believe how fun that set was. it's 2.10am and I'm still buzzing.
my absolute honour to close out Nullsector and, I suppose, #emfcamp as a whole.
massive thanks to @solexious and @DanHatesNumbers for running lighting and lasers for it, the visuals looked incredible.
🏠Have you ever moved house?
Tear down is kind of like that, except it’s not all going to one place, some is time dependent, the truck’s turned up too early, and now it’s started raining. Also everything is muddy, can only be transported with a particular combo of people and vehicles, or has a visiting member of the local wildlife. HQ has a pigeon.
If you have any positive vibes for the tear down crew, leave them here and we’ll make sure they’re passed on this evening when they get a chance to read them.
Impressed with the other scale solar system at #emfcamp over by the planetarium - they’ve gone bigger on planet diameter and compressed the distance scale but the effect of putting them closer together is delightful. Their painting is better than mine! I love that they’ve included the moon too.
Hey, whoever gave me a "chaos" name sticker at the closing party rave, if you're on fedi, your name is hard to find #emfcamp
