Looking through my old 20th century #motoring books (some from mid 1930s), it became apparent that although #car ownership was still a thing for the fairly rich then, there was already a lot of innovation and co-operation *across Europe* and from the USA.

That stalled around 1939-1945 (for obvious reasons!) - there was a big gap until the late 1950s before the industry started recovering - folk still drove #cars, but kept older ones going for many years.

There's a big lesson here from history (especially what is likely to happen to the rising adoption of EVs should #WW3 escalate and supplies of materials needed to make batteries and their components are impacted (due to destruction of factories and/or resources being diverted towards #military requirements)

#MetPol seized 72 luxury #cars and made multiple #arrests for road #traffic #offences as part of a crackdown on anti-social #driving in the centre of #London (they seem to do this every year, to some extent a PR exercise especially as they can brag about "getting tough on foreigners" (as many of the drivers of these cars seem to be from outside the UK)

Taken from "90s #rave scene" group on FB - and this is why, as much as I had fun then, I don't want to go back to those days *that* much - too many folk preyed on one another, robbing #car stereos, alloy wheels (and sometimes whole entire vehicles!) to fund their own partying (on the same group some *middle aged man* is unrepentantly admitting to having committed such thefts!).

Also outside of London and similar cities there was a lot of #CarDependency and #DUI was rampant - the only reason the casualty count wasn't noticed is the roads in 1990s were less safe (even with fewer #cars around) so the consequences of drug driving were masked by a heavy level of "normal" #collisions (and less #forensic investigation into the cause of #crashes)

The second day of the car show was cancelled by the organisers.

This is an unusual thing to happen at these fairly middle class organised events, its not exactly a street car meet on an industrial estate (although in the same area someone killed his own brother at a #motocross event last year during a drunken fight)
