More Countries Join the Majority #IPv6 Club
https://pulse.internetsociety.org/blog/more-countries-join-the-majority-ipv6-club
Out of curiosity: are IPv6 addresses some kind of wild west, unclaimed territory?
When trying to look up who owns some of them that I see in my server logs, I frequently run into "the big void" it seems.
For example: 2200:2242:2064:246::42:6
ipinfo.io says... no ASN, no hostname, no nuffin' available.
Similarly, IP Netblocks says it's part of the range :: - ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff (no shit!😂) and that's all.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

ISP IPv6 Support Database
There is now a simple online database of service providers, listing whether IPv6 is supported (by default or optionally) and if so - cataloguing various metrics such as prefix delegation size etc.
Useful for selecting a temporary simcard when travelling, or when selecting a new ISP etc.
Currently the database is small, but soliciting additional information/feedback.

There has been quite a bit of buzz lately about Linux distros wanting to drop 32-bit support.
I would also like to drop 32-bit support. 32-bit IPv4 addresses that is.

@dentangle Ran the IP address through RDAP and found it's hosted on GCP. Pulled their support document: https://cloud.google.com/vpc/docs/ipv6-support
"Note: IPv6 functionality is available only in Premium Tier."
Given that government programs usually run on a shoestring budget, it's no surprise they didn't spring for the higher tier.
How do we convince the GCP powers-that-be that modern IP connectivity is not Premium?
"Rubin Observatory is the first of its kind: its mirror design, camera sensitivity, telescope speed, and computing infrastructure are each in an entirely new category"
The website, however, is IPv4 only 🙄
