Ahoy!
We will be operating ADSL, VDSL and GPON services at EMF in a limited trial area in Camping C2.
You can even wholesale your own service over the top!
Docs on getting connected are here - https://docs.cutel.net/events/emf26/internet_services/
🦡 Badge (the Tildagon)
If you’ve not come across badges before, or want to know whether you *need* one, we have written a brand new handy guide with answers to all the questions we’ve been asked.
https://www.emfcamp.org/about/badge
‼️You need to PREORDER badges so we know how many to make.
We’re doing quite a bit more for CYBAR this year at #emfcamp and think people are going to love it.
Suggested we document the behind the scenes, how we did it and maybe some content from the event.
Thinking would people come to a talk at the next event of ‘How we did CYBAR in 2026’?
The #emfcamp content schedule is full of amazing content BUT IT COULD BE FULLER! Bodgeham-on-Wye is still accepting submissions for content to take place in our grand old Parish Hall, aka. Workshop 6. It will have A/V, PA, tables and chairs. Learn more and submit your proposal here: https://www.bodgeham-on-wye-gov.uk/services/parish-hall.html
Note that the available times may be weird, because we’ll be fitting submissions in around the official workshops taking place in the space.

(Oh, and you can blame @andypiper for this)
Passing on an invitation from my other half who is not currently engaged in Fediversal things: would anyone going to #emfcamp be interested in an informal session to learn about knitting a mitred square blanket? Also generally chatting about knitting?
Pictured is an example of how this type of blanket can come out; it's really good for using up little bits of yarn. She'll bring a few spare sets of double point needles and some yarn but feel free to bring yours also, the more the merrier :)
@Floppy @hanoi_jane it is not, I had originally scheduled it to finish during #EMFCamp 2018 but I lost interest and I've just been looping it ever since
Are there any #Go players going to #EMFCamp on here? (I mean the Chinese board game Go with the black and white stones)
If so, I'd love to meet up for a game or two at some point at the camp. I'm pretty much a newbie that's educated from YouTube videos and computer opponents so virtually beginner status. Not looking for a tutorial, but I'd love some feedback or commentary on the game.
Once again we want your ads to show before our features. Got a cool talk/workshop/hatstand/general-sense-of-wellbeing? We want you to tell the world (well, a group of geeks in a tent) about it.
Make a <=30s ad and send it (or a link) to films@emfcamp.org. More details and inspiration here: https://films.emfcamp.org/ads/ #EMFCamp #EMFCamp2026
🗓️ Help build the schedule!
If you’re logged in to your account you can now favourite things on the schedule.
https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/2026
Not everything is on there yet, we’ll prod you when other stuff gets added.
Bought a ticket for a friend/partner/buddy/colleague/relation? Transfer it from the account section so they can vote too (and check themselves in if you’re travelling separately and other useful stuff).
The #EMFcamp talk and workshop line-up went live last night. If you're coming, please log in and favourite the things you'd like to see/do:
https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/2026
If you're not familiar with how an EMF works, all of that data is fed into the scheduling robot, which then does a mass of constraint-solving to figure out how to schedule the talks and workshops so that the most people can see/do the things they want to.
For Reasons that are different to previous Reasons, I have an excess train ticket from Paddington to Ledbury and back, leaving Thursday and returning Monday, that I would happily hand off to someone making the trip to #emfcamp (I will be there, I am just bad at buying the correct number of train tickets)
I've been putting finishing touches on the EMF 2024 community blanket, and I finally have the blanket website back up after a long hiatus!
See the blanket in its full glory below, and browse https://emf.elichad.net to find comments by those who contributed - including first-ever squares, self-care squares, and squares made from yarn spun on-site.
Stay tuned for the next project coming up at EMF 2026...
Having read the lineup I really very much wish I could get to EMFcamp. Perhaps one day, when The Project has ended. #EMFcamp
Very excited about the #EMFCamp #emfcamp2026 line-up being published today! A lot of very cool invited speakers and some brilliant talks come in from our call for participation. I'm super pleased with how it's shaken out! https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/2026

Ooh! Colin Wright is talking about #siteswap at #emfcamp
I really need to make sure the Siteswaphone is working don’t I
@m @grajohnt @andypiper Don’t think I haven’t considered a Geiger Counter Hexpansion. But I already have more to prepare for #EMFCamp than I have time remaining.
Talk about community. You #emfcamp folks 🥰🥲🥹 I've got people helping take my gear in their cars because I can't drive, I've been adopted into the kindest village making me feel super welcome, and someone even just offered to put up my tent because I'm getting there late on Friday with my kid.
THERE'S A LOT OF DUST IN THIS ROOM SUDDENLY 🥲🥲🥲
We'll be in the #UK for #emfcamp in july + a few days around it, gonna be a car + bed & breakfast tripp. Entering and leaving the UK with the ferry at harwich. Stops currently planned are shakespeares birthplace in warwickshire and the brighton earthship. Any recommendations to visit along that line? #permaculture, #computerhistory, #nerdculture and #museum recommendations preferred.
I have just persuaded my couturier and tailor to come to #emfcamp
He will bring some material and a sewing machine... I have no idea what they would like to do, I'm suggesting a workshop but perhaps they'll source some space themed fabric and will make bandanas and scarves for cheap to help folk cope with sun and weather.
ideas in a toot please.
also he's trans, this is his first ever festival / camping thing ever, so that will be interesting. he's very into the description of EMF, and luckily I still have a spare ticket.

@dee Adorable beach defender plushie workshop was (unexpectedly?) popular at #WHY2025, although there may already be Tetrapod Plans for #EMFCamp... https://wlcx.cc/projects/plush-tetrapod/
Rey ready for #emfcamp Sunday. Is anyone else at EMF doing any Starwars cosplay and want to meet up for team photos (play fights?) or anything? 😃 (also doing 7of9 Saturday if any other Trekkers want to meet up do any fun photos)
📣 Spreading the word
Morning (potential) campers! It’ll be in the upcoming email to ticket holders, but if you know someone with a ticket who’s on here and not following us, you might want to give them a gentle prod as this is where ad hoc updates and announcements will happen.
Also:
- Have you ordered any badge bits yet?
- Do you have any questions for us?
⛺️ What’s a village?
A village is a place where people with a shared interest have decided to be. You’ll see named blobs on the map that show roughly where they intend to camp. Some of them have a big shared tent they set up where they cook together and make things, others a circle of chairs, some are just friends who want to camp together… it varies.
You don't need to be part of a village, but if you're a first timer there's a blob at the top right corner called "unaffiliated village" where you could camp with other first timers if you wanted (but it is at the noisy end), otherwise the whole camping area is your oyster.
Some villages run workshops or show off stuff they've brought, and they'll usually advertise that in some way. Some are even here on Mastodon! (Say hi)
LOTS more detail here: https://www.emfcamp.org/about/villages
Took a risk and ordered an extremely limited quantity of something special for our #EMFCamp Night Market stall. Hoping to provide things to sell which people will love while not ending up losing money on the cost of producing the items if we don't sell it all.
