Good morning one and all! Up for #Parkrun but volunteering today. Last one of the year at Appley then itâs back to running around the Isle of Wight festival siteâŠ

Our very own parkrun. I came 2nd out of a field of two but first in my age group. Many thanks to the run director (me) and to all the participants (GF).
Timing chips ? The only chips I saw were being stolen by seagulls.
First random track: GF telling me how much she likes Steve Cram's voice on #C25K (that track is on repeat !).
GF is on week 4 of #C25K & has a London Marathon place for 2026 - wish us both luck.
Enjoy your running.
Picture is Eastbourne Riviera in the distance.
Lovely article about a 97 year old who just completed her 250th #parkrun this morning in Belfast. She only took up running aged 88.
âit's just wonderful - people from all over Northern Ireland come and mix at Parkrun and you wouldn't have had people from all the communities mixing like that when I was growing up,"

Was slow at #parkrun today on 33.40 yet Mr Garmin thinks I got younger again, which was puzzling as usually when I feel good and run well Garmin says "you're only fit for the knackers yard".....I'll just assume that the algorithms for that are hilariously inaccurate for types that aren't stick thin running for days spirits...
A hot morning at #parkrun and I was very tired, so quite surprised to be only just over 32 minutes by my watch. A nice sunny day here but quite breezy. Officially in a drought now as you can see by the colour of the grass in the park.
More than happy to stick around on Mastodon, so maybe it's time for a more detailed #introduction

I had a good #parkrun. Was pushing for a little quicker, but the legs said no.

Return to the local #Parkrun today. Lots of friendly faces. Went for coffee with my friend afterwards. Sheâs recently taken up âjogglingâ (juggling whilst running) and is hoping to be good enough to complete a sponsored joggling Parkrun by the end of year to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Hereâs a video of her practising at Pendine Sands at the beginning of the holidays đ

If you are a runner in New York this is a must. Could become huge.
Good luck NYC parkrun.

Proper #Parkrun tourism, and alphabeteering, today at Queen Elizabeth Country Park. âGravel Hillâ car park also describes the course. The down hills were fun though. Volunteers were very amusing too.
Visited #Springburn #parkrun this morning. Very good, recommend. Best time this year. But it's no Tollcross.
That was my first #Parkrun since May and it was SLOW .... but I've just checked my Parkrun text messages and it was possibly (pending official time) faster than last time! đ
I only do it for the coffee and toast. Oh, and the positive physical and mental health benefits. đ
#ParkRun 97 done aaaaaand DONE! sort of.
Walked to Bethlem, which I do not really enjoy but I know is good for me (the kale of parkrunning) and the walk there is 2.83k, so we're tacking another 5k walk onto the run, which is good. Felt pretty good, but it was hot and the course is all off road and hilly, so difficult and a bit treacherous to run on. Trish hit a divot halfway, hurting her foot, so we walked for a bit, then, when I was sure she was OK I gallantly ran on and SMASHED her! Yes! In! Your! Face! I beat her for the first time ever! Champioooooné champioooooné olé olé olé! (she's fine and I got what I needed for the old evil imps brain).
We're now at DEFCON-1 in preparation for camping, which apparently also includes a tip-run and bra fitting, which is ESSENTIAL for some reason. Hey, don't look at me, I just work here. You don't have to be mad to work here but it helps. I'm walkin' heeeeyeeere.
It's a beautiful day. And whatever is going on, look things could always be worse. So let's celebrate the little things. That's what she said.
HAVE A GREAT DAY YOU GORGEOUS BASTARDS. xxx
So. After a TERRIBLE run yesterday I thought it would be mad to go out again tonight. But it was naked run night (no watch, race, closest to estimated time wins MONEY). I figured I'd do the 5k route rather than the 8 and what's the worst that could happen?.....
Turns out I ended up running with people I genuinely quite like, and for whatever reason they also weren't expecting much.
Had a brilliant run.
I beat my last 6 #ParkRun times. I have literally no idea how. There were some long gradual hills involved, which I HATE, but somehow managed to find something from somewhere and although it was AWFUL, we all smashed it. I got told off for my original predicted time because it was too high, so I shaved a couple of minutes off it. Then someone else told me THAT was too high so I shaved a couple more minutes off my prediction. I came in nearly 3 minutes under that. Unreal.
Anyway I know this is boring, but I was buzzing. So much so that I went for drinks with them all after and had a TERRIFIC TIME.
I am now home and Trish is a bit cross I didn't cook and also cross that I'm making fresh tomato garlic white wine pasta at half 10 at night for..... myself (they'll no doubt have some - it's school hols and they're all rewatching Stranger Things and we're camping soon, so everyone is resetting to a bit later).
But I'm so pleased I went out. And weirdly pleased I did that shit run last night.
I clarify once again that I do NOT see myself as a runner.
But if anyone is reading this load of old shit and struggling, I cannot recommend enough finding a group of like-minded people for #running, for walking, or even just leaving the house and interacting outside. It does wonders for my Bental health.
Love you! X
#parkrun 66 today
Fast but not too fast, bit of chatting in the first km.
Took the time to high-5 (or high-10) the marshals, wide bends to let friends catch up, etc.
Ran with a friend for 4.2km, then he wanted to slow, so I ran the last 800m or so with the random guy who was going past. We pushed each other a bit and finished strong.
Then a bonus lap for cooldown, a glass of bubbly and a cupcake!
Then the rain really arrived đ
Another sports legend at our #parkrun today - had the honour to scan the qr-code of a trans-africa-cyclist!
Last week JĂŒrgen the Bread. Perhaps we should aim for that former Tour de France guy who lives in town for No 200?
Very humid at the local #parkrun this morning where they launched a 5k Your Way - move against cancer group. Always great to see these sorts of initiatives.
#ReturnOfTheCake
With my regular #Parkrun off due to mysterious glasgow council reasons, I visited Cuningar Loop Parkrun and it was an enjoyable visit. Under 33 minutes again and could probably have been a bit quicker if I'd started a bit further up the bunch so a good morning's effort from me.
A return visit to the Shepton Mallet #parkrun today and a more even run over the 5K. I didnât overcook it on the first lap (itâs a three lap course) and ran it all and actually felt like I could have pushed harder. I came in 7 seconds faster than last week (35:28) so next Saturday Iâll try my official home course (Frome) and aim to finally break 35 minutes which I can do when out running on the roads.
