Our very own parkrun. I came 2nd out of a field of two but first in my age group. Many thanks to the run director (me) and to all the participants (GF).
Timing chips ? The only chips I saw were being stolen by seagulls.
First random track: GF telling me how much she likes Steve Cram's voice on (that track is on repeat !).
GF is on week 4 of & has a London Marathon place for 2026 - wish us both luck.
      Enjoy your running.

No parkrun for me this morning - an art exhibition is being set up on part of the course.
Enjoy your parkrun - I'll have to make up my own.

Lovely article about a 97 year old who just completed her 250th this morning in Belfast. She only took up running aged 88.

“it's just wonderful - people from all over Northern Ireland come and mix at Parkrun and you wouldn't have had people from all the communities mixing like that when I was growing up,"

Was slow at today on 33.40 yet Mr Garmin thinks I got younger again, which was puzzling as usually when I feel good and run well Garmin says "you're only fit for the knackers yard".....I'll just assume that the algorithms for that are hilariously inaccurate for types that aren't stick thin running for days spirits...

A hot morning at and I was very tired, so quite surprised to be only just over 32 minutes by my watch. A nice sunny day here but quite breezy. Officially in a drought now as you can see by the colour of the grass in the park.

She’s recently taken up ‘joggling’ (juggling whilst running) and is hoping to be good enough to complete a sponsored joggling Parkrun by the end of year to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Here’s a video of her practising at Pendine Sands at the beginning of the holidays 😀

Proper tourism, and alphabeteering, today at Queen Elizabeth Country Park. ‘Gravel Hill’ car park also describes the course. The down hills were fun though. Volunteers were very amusing too.

A group of Parkrun participants gathered on a chalk path at the finish of the event. There are woodlands to one side and sweeping meadows to the other and woodlands in the distance. The view is looking down a valley

                                        Running hijinks [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

97 done aaaaaand DONE! sort of.

Walked to Bethlem, which I do not really enjoy but I know is good for me (the kale of parkrunning) and the walk there is 2.83k, so we're tacking another 5k walk onto the run, which is good. Felt pretty good, but it was hot and the course is all off road and hilly, so difficult and a bit treacherous to run on. Trish hit a divot halfway, hurting her foot, so we walked for a bit, then, when I was sure she was OK I gallantly ran on and SMASHED her! Yes! In! Your! Face! I beat her for the first time ever! Champioooooné champioooooné olé olé olé! (she's fine and I got what I needed for the old evil imps brain).

We're now at DEFCON-1 in preparation for camping, which apparently also includes a tip-run and bra fitting, which is ESSENTIAL for some reason. Hey, don't look at me, I just work here. You don't have to be mad to work here but it helps. I'm walkin' heeeeyeeere.

It's a beautiful day. And whatever is going on, look things could always be worse. So let's celebrate the little things. That's what she said.

                                          Running McGuffin [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

So. After a TERRIBLE run yesterday I thought it would be mad to go out again tonight. But it was naked run night (no watch, race, closest to estimated time wins MONEY). I figured I'd do the 5k route rather than the 8 and what's the worst that could happen?.....

Turns out I ended up running with people I genuinely quite like, and for whatever reason they also weren't expecting much.

                                          Had a brilliant run.

I beat my last 6 times. I have literally no idea how. There were some long gradual hills involved, which I HATE, but somehow managed to find something from somewhere and although it was AWFUL, we all smashed it. I got told off for my original predicted time because it was too high, so I shaved a couple of minutes off it. Then someone else told me THAT was too high so I shaved a couple more minutes off my prediction. I came in nearly 3 minutes under that. Unreal.

Anyway I know this is boring, but I was buzzing. So much so that I went for drinks with them all after and had a TERRIFIC TIME.

I am now home and Trish is a bit cross I didn't cook and also cross that I'm making fresh tomato garlic white wine pasta at half 10 at night for..... myself (they'll no doubt have some - it's school hols and they're all rewatching Stranger Things and we're camping soon, so everyone is resetting to a bit later).

But I'm so pleased I went out. And weirdly pleased I did that shit run last night.

I clarify once again that I do NOT see myself as a runner.

But if anyone is reading this load of old shit and struggling, I cannot recommend enough finding a group of like-minded people for , for walking, or even just leaving the house and interacting outside. It does wonders for my Bental health.

                                          Love you! X
