These old people allegedly still moaning about in (which is within Greater ) are likely being stubborn and petulant and holding on to old diesel maybe out of spite (or even hoping Reform will scrap the ULEZ) - a 25 year old petrol car can be ULEZ compliant, and they could easily sell non compliant vehicles in Essex or Suffolk (particularly if they have automatic transmissions, folk want them out here).

They've also had /several years/ warning the zone was going to be expanded *and* a scrappage scheme..

Hmmm.... the private equity groups behind both the AA & the RAC (the UK's two biggest roadside assistance firms) are *both* seeking to cash out in early 2026 - AA though a sale to another PE group or 'strategic partner' while the RAC looks to be seeking a London share listing.

But the more interesting Q. is: why both at this point? Have they rung the firms dry at the same time, or do they suspect a shift to Electric Cars will make roadside assistance more difficult?

You know congestion pricing has worked just as advertised, when even @politico can't find some controversy to concoct.

And yes, e.g. "the New York City Economic Development Corp. found foot traffic inside the central business district was up 4.8 percent compared to only 1 percent for business districts elsewhere in the city."¹

Congestion pricing was supposed to be a political red light for Gov. Kathy Hochul.

So far, she’s driving on Easy Street.

The controversial, first-in-the-nation Manhattan toll program began nearly a year ago after the governor’s politically strategic decision to hold off on it months before crucial midterm elections

This isn’t a YouTube channel I watch an awful lot, but this video is some powerful stuff. Some of the things BYD have been getting away with both inside and outside of China are truly awful. I would have considered one of their before, but certainly not now.
