Also put from & tune on at end of May

Had false start as first PDM (OBD2 dongle) was goosed, but RL were responsive, sent new one next day (could even speak to real humans on telephone to sort things out!)

Used smol laptop on passenger seat (propped up on box + multiple Cecilia Aherne novels borrowed from book swap in office next door) to apply maps with Ring smartcharger set for constant 13,8V supply to keep battery charged.

Was a bit nerve wracking as you get whole list of gnarly errors on the dashboard but they clear off afterwards.

Did get DSG error codes initially but again Racingline sent new DSG map next day, applied this and so far so good (car now has similar power level to entry level GolfR )

    Got back on Wednesday - did decent enough job (whole entire side repainted, to deal also with rear right door & quarter panel with poor clearcoat from previous repair job (before I got the car)

    *very* slight colour difference (rear bumper wasn't blended, which would have meant waiting few more days, pushed repair cost up to nearer a grand and still been visible *somewhere*), but not easily visible in daylight, you have to stare at whilst shining LED mechanics lamps on it in darkness to find it - none of my work colleagues noticed this repair, not even Romanian chap who is into and

    Now parking some distance down the road away from narrow bit outside my house with cars parked on other side (which led to this prang in the first place)

      I'm personally ambivalent about the bid for - its not a bad thing by any means and even the Tories and Reform aren't criticising it, but at same time the Council and other authorities need to address such issues as , and , and preferably *before* we try and encourage even more casual visitors (many of whom are still likely to be arriving in ) into a relatively small physical space in town, which is at present (especially at night) very male-dominated with high levels of use as part of "culture".

      Or else it could all end quite badly...

            now in (ripples in the door don't look obvious in this photo, unless you check the reflection carefully, nor rough clearcoat on rear door (from previous repair) and quarter panel, but they are definitely there.

            One of the frontline care staff booked out Corsa last week - although I had first call on it due to being senior management and saving it from scrap and getting it back on road after near 2 years, she would have lost out on work hours and I have hybrid working so can work from home whilst the GTI is fixed.

            Also got a "wingaware" and modded it with reflective tape to hopefully avoid a repeat of this if I have to park in the sketchy space again (which annoyingly is the most convenient one outside my house)

                Helped a work colleague do on 2,0 TDI - used oil extractor to get 4,5 litres out of sump via access tube (there isn't a dipstick on this but there is a hole for one with a removable plastic bung).

                Used oil from engine is not pleasant stuff, (I need to redo the GHS labels on the repurposed pop bottles as some oil spilled down the side and obliterated them) it is also hard to see the level in the extractor due to the sunlight

                4,5 litres new 5W30 went back in + new oil filter (in awkward place to get to even though its up top) (you have to check on the display for the oil level on this !) and service indicator reset..

                          Both and / use convention of wire for an earth/ground (and in the case of this Corsa a black wire for L+), but in modern a brown wire is treated as live (could be either AC or DC) and black is often L- on older systems (nowadays blue or grey is preferred depending on whether the DC is negative or positive earthed).

                          I assume these conventions for started long before the standardised European colours for electrical wiring in buildings and other equipment

                          Which you have to beware of if you often switch between and general electric work!

                                                            This may not be widely known unless you take an interest in /and/ collect ancient books about - but in early 20th century there *were* cars with brake and accelerator positions swapped round - for stick shift clutch was always on the only due to the physical location of the engine but the locations of various gears also varied wildly (whereas today its generally only reverse which may be in different location).

                                                            I'm not sure if UN traffic safety guidelines mandate order of brake and accelerator pedals which I believe standardised around 1930s/1940s , but any automaker diverting from this would be *extremely* unpopular and become a pariah.

                                                            And yet, as @mhoye points out, this is tolerated in computer software UI (and now even in non-safety critical parts of vehicles)
