Nice parkrun this morning where I could release my daemons after a long time 😃 .
Not yet the PR from 2 years back (21min) but starting to get there.

I didn’t make the today but I ran my own 5k later so I think that counts. The that’s closest to me is still a bit far and a bit early so I’m not sure how regular I’ll be about it.

But also, I had kind of a disturbing conversation with someone at the breakfast after my first ParkRun that threw me off. I’m realizing it upset me more than I realized at the time and might be why I’m hesitant to go now.

Had a great Leeds Pride parkrun this morning. We brought face paint so quite a lot of the volunteers (and others) had both rainbow and trans colour stripes on their cheeks.

Leeds Pride parkrun first started in 2016. As far as I understand, it was the first of it's kind. Now quite a few parkruns do a Pride run on their local Pride weekend.

Two men with Pride themed tshirts stood behind a "Woodhouse Moor" parkrun sign under a large arch with a long, intersex-inclusive, Progress Pride flag. Behind is city parkland with an avenue of trees.

96 done and DOOOOONE. In a performance that the newspapers are describing as 'fine', I did a respectable time and managed to get around without 'Jeffing' (stop/start), which is always a minor triumph. Conditions were (described by Michael Fish as) 'shit' but actually it wasn't *that* bad and I feel (inevitably) terrific. Huzzah!

Now off to my summer charity run (pub crawl). I've not done a run before doing a run before. Perhaps I'll wake up tomorrow looking even more like actual Tom Hardy?

I hope you all win the lottery and fund a lab that discovers the key to immortality and fast interstellar travel and that you discover far off lands and become benevolent rulers over a race of peaceful horny sandwich-making aliens and that your lives are forever filled with joy and bread and... y'know.... the other thing.... if you're into it. No pressure. There's always sandwiches. HAVE A GREAT DAY. X

You know you've made the right decision when it stops raining at 8:59 and the sun is out at 9:01.
33:47 for me and The Cooperative Calf - that'll do for today.
Many thanks to pacers and the volunteers.
Now let's go and see if can beat the Aussies.

Good morning you lovelies. It is raining but it's going to be a lovely day. 96 and then an all-day summer pub run... something like 12k and 6 pubs, so I'll be out '' for about 5 hours later aswell. Although Mrs Bread is making noises about not ParkRunning on account of all of the dihydrogen monoxide falling from the sky. It is my intention to go, but I could be persuaded not to. We'll see where things take us after coffee! Hope you're having a fab morning. Let's do this!

Somehow I made it out the door this morning and to my first ! I didn’t sleep well the night before so I struggled a bit, but finished. It was also nice to have breakfast outside with some of the people after.

Busy morning😃Run to ParkRun on my own. Met up with my wife and son. We all did ParkRun. I jogged round with my son for his PB (out of 2 attempts so far) and my wife came 4th in her age category and 20th woman overall. Then I ran home by which time it was **even hotter**☀️+🏃‍♂️=🫠

Screenshot from the Garmin Connect app shows a summary of each of the three runs I did this morning. All pretty slow and very warm, totalling just over 13 miles

No rowing today and Durham parkrun was also off, I thought Sedgefield would be busy so headed out to the coast to do the Heritage coast parkrun near easington. This is new and a first for me. A figure eight taking in part of the nature reserve and the cliff path with great views out over the sea. Not perfect today as there was a little cloud and mist. I had to set off early as the road I live on was closed for banner waving, band practice or bus loading. I also passed a few bands playing people on buses on the route out to the coast.
The Easington site has some reminders that mining wasn't all brass bands political speeches and all the lager you can drink/carry.
An undulating course, no real hills but pretty hardwork in places. The views, location and friendliest marshals and volunteers are worth the trip but it's probably not one for any records.

Self-indulgent rambling running PIFFLE [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

OK, here we goooo! 95 done in 26° (80°f) heat. Did Bethlem again, which is my NEMESIS, because it's all off road with ruts and ditches and it's a bit hilly. It's also a small run (maybe 100 people?) so favoured by the fitter parkrunners so I generally finish towards the back and it can be a little disheartening. But I've been working on reframing that negative thinking, and am pretty sure 1 Bethlem is equal to or greater than 1.5 Norman Parks - my other local one which is all flat and on concrete. However the heat was unbelievable today so although I breezed the first lap, I just totally overheated on the second and had to walk a bit so my time is a bit poo. But I worked hard and feel pretty good so I'm not too worried about that. Ultimately I finished and got what I needed. Huzzah! Also walked there and back so at half 10 in the morning my watch is telling me I've already done 10k/12k steps/burned nearly 1kcal. STATS! HOW INTERESTING! Sorry - I forget sometimes this isn't just a diary of my thoughts. Dear diary...Had a nice time talking to Mike today. Had some quite spicy impure thoughts then got distracted by an interesting looking pigeon. Still noone has discovered my terrible secret so I get to live another day as a free man. The end.

In summary.... TLDR.... I bid you well, be you runner, walker, neither, flyer(?), non-corporeal fog drifting through this mortal plane, or whatever your mode or method of movement is or isn't. Ultimately we're all hurtling through an endless void on a rock spinning at a thousand miles an hour, so it's a wonder we even manage to hold on. It seems grossly unfair that we're expected to do anything else, living amongst that kind of chaos. We should all just be screaming all of the time, stopping occasionally for snacks.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND YOU GORGEOUS BASTARDS. Xx

                                                      Running meanderings [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

Girl! I wanna take you to a . So - I did it. It was awful, frankly. I felt like someone who had never run(ran?) before. My legs didn't fully understand what was happening and seemed to want to operate independently of one another. Like an octopus. Only with two human legs. It isn't inconceivable that I died on the run and am now in the spirit world. However my wife says that's not an excuse not to make breakfast, sadly. Not *make breakfast sadly* - like crying into the food.... you know what I mean.

But I did it and I'm glad. I also very much enjoyed someone I know running past me at one point shouting I HATE RUNNING. 100% with you, sister. I hope she's now reaping the benefits and thriving.

I often wonder if I have some secret underlying condition that means running is much much harder for me than everyone else. And if I didn't have it I'd be a super-olympian. And that in many ways this makes me a hero. Noone understands my special suffering. I should have some kind of award....

I hope that's the break point - the bad difficult run that ends my running drought and gets me back into the routine. Good lord this is boring. Sorry.

I hope you have a terrific weekend. It's London Pride today, so I hope anyone going to that has the best time. Big love to all. :gayrex:
